Masterclass (Wellington): Governance - Building the Dream Board

  • MacKenzie Room - St John's Centre Corner of Willis & Dixon Streets Wellington New Zealand (map)

We join boards to make a difference in our communities. To do this well, we need to ensure they are functioning well and really adding value, as they lead the organisation into the future.

This workshop is for board members who feel they have an understanding of governance, but are looking for the skills and knowledge to create a high performing leadership team - with the people and resources we have available to us. During the highly interactive workshop, participants will have the opportunity to explore their board’s roles and responsibilities, as well as work with a range of tools and processes to deepen governance practice.

Specific Topics Covered Include:

- Boards as Leaders

- Board/Chair/Manager relationships

- What should we really expect from the Chair?

- Leadership recruitment & succession

- Planning for better meetings

- Effective group decision-making

- Dealing with difficult people.
