The Sargood Bequest
The Sargood Bequest is a charitable trust founded in 1939 by Sir Percy Sargood of the firm Sargood Son & Ewen and is still run by his descendants today. The Bequest makes grants to community organisations throughout New Zealand active in the areas of Children & Youth, Culture, Sports & Outdoors, Education and Environment. It prioritises Access, Participation and Inspiration. It has particularly strong ties with the Otago region, from a family base in Wānaka.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Trust Chair, the Bequest Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our charitable trust. They will assist the Trustees to ensure that the Bequest is making effective use of its resources in line with its strategy, to maximise its contribution to the community. They will also contribute to engaging the wider family (Sargood descendants) in the current and future work of the Bequest.
This is a new role so will evolve over time. It would suit a “can do” person who is also sensitive to the adjustments that will result for others in the organisation.

About you
Most importantly we are seeking someone whose values align with those of the Bequest's. To be successful in this role you will also:
Have the ability to clearly convey the Bequest's values, interests and tone
Have the ability to relate well to different types of people with tact and friendliness
Have excellent attention to detail and time management skills
Be diplomatic, perceptive and sensitive to others' views
Have administration and customer service experience
Be competent in computer programmes (word processing, database, data sharing, spreadsheets) and social media and websites.
